Hey Mama Wolf

Isn't this photo almost eerie? Very Alice in Wonderland.

Channeling Chanel

Remember that DIY Chanel t-shirt I posted a while back? This may be even better.

I especially love the chain.

Summertime

I love when I have bikinis hanging over my shower head and towels draped over the balcony. It's so quintessentially summer.

Go to the beach. Or the lake. Or even the pool if that's all you've got. Fall's just around the corner.

Handmade Home

How cool is this house, and more specifically, that bedroom?

It was handmade sometime in the 1960s-70s in Northern California, and is featured in Handmade Houses: A Guide to the Woodbutcher's Art. The whole book looks fascinating. Puts my grandfather's hand-made cabin into perspective.

Sunday Evening

Tired from a late-afternoon swim and spending the rest of the night curled up with Infinite Jest.

Good weekend.

Metropolitan

Sometimes it's disappointing living in a city that's so, well, not like most other cities.
I want to take the metro.

The Martian Chronicles

This immediately made me think of Ray Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles and the gold masks his characters wear.

Chloë

Chloë Sevigny for Opening Ceremony.

Love how she did all the same designs for a man and a woman.
And of course love those shoes.

Saturday Night

I love this image from the end of the night. A nice contrast to the usual party photos.

Also, the girl on the left is all over the cobrasnake recently. So funny how they find their girl of the moment, completely over-expose her, and then move on to the next.

Wish I still dressed like this.

Infinite Summer

Currently tackling David Foster Wallace's longest, Infinite Jest.

Apparently there's a whole cult happening going on, called Infinite Summer, where everyone's attempting to finish all 1200 pages from June-September. I've got some catching up to do, but it's nice to know there are others out there struggling along with me.

Custom

Can't get enough of 4th and Bleeker.

She got these boots custom made by some guy called Mr. Deep while on vacation. What's not to love (and envy)?

Venice Biennale Fail

One of the things I was most excited about seeing on my recent trip abroad was the Venice Biennale--a big art festival of sorts that happens every two years in Venice, Italy. Unfortunately, I wrote down wrong addresses, poorly researched it, and was generally confused, leading me to only see one tiny exhibition of an artist I'd never heard of. Needless to say, I was disappointed. Wish I'd stumbled upon this exhibition instead.

Dario Escobar for the Venice Biennale, 2009.

Dan Martensen

I first saw this image a while back, but recently fell upon it again at a blog I just discovered today, Je Suis.

It's by Dan Martensen. If you don't already know his work, go check him out.

Lust

Love these Louis Vuitton tights. Maybe a splurge for fall?

Apartemento

For some reason my new bedroom doesn't look quite like this.

I'm beginning to regret my excitement over the "comfort and coziness" of carpeted bedrooms. At least we've got hardwood everywhere else.

Post-Graduation

This whole graduation thing isn't all it's cracked up to be. Parents stop paying for things, and you have to find a job that takes up all your time? I'm really much more into part-time, thanks. But the worst part is seeing friends go. I've never had a friend leave before--I was always the one to move away. But now seeing my good friend move away leaving me stuck in LA is no fun.

At least I'll have an excuse to take a long weekend off for a visit to San Francisco.
